More Details About Live Multi-Angle Videos For Less
The basic idea is: A) to get multiple angels of view I organize as many cameras as are available in your network of friends, I instruct them, then I do the best I can editing that footage, B) we use the footage from one shoot in many different ways over time and customized to fit your promotional or documentary goals to reduce over all cost, and C) I reduce my fees as part of a package deal.

Advice for Bands: So, you'd like to have a professional looking multi-angle video of one of your songs to post on-line and send to booking agents. How can you do this without spending all of your tour money?

I do have a team of professional videographers with professional cameras, but if that sounds prohibitively expensive, consider using the people you know to get the initial footage.

  • Use your fan base, friends, and family to locate the best cameras owned by friends in your network.
  • Select a suitable venue for a video shoot (which I would be glad to help you with) and arrange free entry, etc, in exchange for the camera operators to come early and work during the show. (The better the camera and the more experienced the operator, the more you might want to offer drink tickets and/or cash in addition to entry.)
  • I will quickly instruct and train each camera operator and explain their part in achieving the best possible result as a whole.
  • I will check settings to match the cameras as closely as possible, but there will often be a "weak link" and, yes, that will slightly reduce the professional look of the final product, but generally speaking, having multiple angles will be well worth it.
  • Now that the footage is shot, we can formulate a plan to use all of the footage over time so, for instance, instead of having just one song, you end up with a DVD, several songs for the web, a short video showing the finest moments, pieces for a possible documentary down the road, etc. The more you do with your one controlled shoot, the more value it will provide for future promotion.

With such a plan in place you are getting the maximum return on the minimum investment and marketing tools that can be released over time in conjunction with major shows, tours, or album releases. Because all the projects require the same set-up, all of the secondary videos cost much less then the primary project.

For Businesses and Other Artists: The same ideas apply. I can help you select or create an event that maximizes your efforts, one for which most all of the video shot will be used one way or another, strategically over time.
